Ex Indian Spy Charged In US Over Alleged Khalistani Terrorist Murder Plot: Report

The United States has charged a former Indian intelligence officer, Vikash Yadav, for allegedly orchestrating a failed plot to kill Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun residing in New York City, information company Reuters reported. 

Mr Yadav, beforehand related to the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), is accused of coordinating an assassination try on Pannun, a twin US-Canadian citizen. The US Justice Department has charged him with murder-for-hire and cash laundering. 

“The FBI is not going to tolerate acts of violence or different efforts to retaliate towards these residing within the U.S. for exercising their constitutionally protected rights,” FBI Director Christopher Wray mentioned in an announcement.

The plot allegedly started in May 2023, with Mr Yadav, then reportedly an worker of the Indian authorities, allegedly collaborating with people in India and abroad to execute the assassination. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the meant goal, is a chosen terrorist in India and an advocate for Khalistan, a proposed unbiased Sikh homeland to be carved out of India.
