Syria Rebels Name Mohammed Al-Bashir Head Of Transitional Government: Report

The Syrian rebels now in energy in Damascus appointed Mohammad al-Bashir as head of a transitional authorities that can be in place till March 1, state media stated Tuesday.

On Sunday, the rebels led by Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) seized the capital Damascus in a lightning offensive, toppling president Bashar al-Assad who fled the nation.

“The common command has tasked us with operating the transitional authorities till March 1,” stated an announcement attributed to Bashir on state tv’s Telegram account, referring to him as “the brand new Syrian prime minister”.

Before being tapped for the function, he had been head of the rebels’ so-called Salvation Government in northwest Syria and beforehand held the function of its growth minister.
