Hindi Producer Vashu Bhagnani Accuses Netflix Of Rs 47 Crore Fraud

Netflix rejected Vashu Bhagnani’s allegations and claimed it’s Pooja Entertainment that owes them cash.

Mumbai:

Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani has lodged a police criticism accusing Netflix India of dishonest him to the tune of Rs 47.37 crore over movie rights, a cost rejected by the main OTT platform.

The Mumbai police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has began an investigation into the criticism filed by Mr Bhagnani, an official stated on Wednesday.

According to the official, the producer has claimed Netflix cheated him over rights of his three latest Hindi movies — ‘Hero No 1’, ‘Mission Raniganj’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’.

Mr Bhagnani didn’t obtain funds of Rs 47.37 crore which had been due for these movies from the streaming platform, he stated, quoting the criticism.

Mr Bhagnani, who owns manufacturing and distribution agency Pooja Entertainment, filed the criticism towards Los Gatos Production Services India, by way of which Netflix experiences its content material investments in India, Zoo Digital India, and several other executives of each firms.

Meanwhile, Netflix rejected Mr Bhagnani’s allegations and claimed it’s Pooja Entertainment that owes them cash.

“These claims are fully unfounded — certainly it is Pooja Entertainment that owes Netflix cash. We have a powerful monitor file of partnership with the Indian inventive neighborhood and are working with the authorities to resolve this dispute,” a Netflix spokesperson stated in a press release.
