Air India Cabin Crew Member Caught At Chennai Airport Smuggling 1.7 Kg Gold

Chennai:

A cabin crew member of Air India has been arrested for serving to a passenger smuggle 1.7 kg 24-carat gold on the Chennai airport, authorities mentioned at the moment.

The cabin crew member and the passenger had been intercepted by the officers after they arrived at Chennai on an Air India Flight from Dubai on Sunday.

The passenger admitted to handing over the gold to the cabin crew member contained in the flight, the customs division mentioned in a press release.

“A search resulted within the restoration of gold in compound type, hid within the undergarments of the cabin crew,” officers mentioned.

Both have been remanded below judicial custody.

Air India is but to touch upon this.

In a separate incident, a Kenyan lady who ingested 90 capsules containing cocaine value Rs 14.2 crore was arrested by customs officers on the Chennai Airport. The lady was caught after she arrived on the airport from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on December 7.

“Based on particular intelligence, a Kenyan feminine passenger who arrived in Chennai from Addis Ababa by Ethiopian Airlines on December 7 was intercepted by the Air Intelligence Unit. On search of her particular person, she egested 90 cylindrical hyperdense objects with medical help,” the customs division mentioned.

“These objects examined constructive for cocaine, a psychotropic substance lined below the NDPS Act, 1985,” it added.

A complete of 1.4 kg of cocaine was recovered from her possession.

The lady has been despatched to judicial custody.
