In recent hassle for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal forward of Delhi election, the Union Home Ministry has given the go-ahead to the Enforcement Directorate to prosecute the previous Chief Minister in a cash laundering case linked to the now-scrapped liquor coverage. The Home Ministry, sources have stated, has additionally okayed the company’s prosecution push within the case towards senior AAP chief and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
This comes months after a Supreme Court ruling in November which stated the Enforcement Directorate would want prior sanction just like the Central Bureau of Investigation to prosecute public servants. While the ED has stated Mr Kejriwal was the mastermind of alleged irregularities within the Delhi liquor coverage case, the framing of prices was pending in a Delhi courtroom because it didn’t have the clearance. The recent improvement has now eliminated that impediment.
Weeks after the highest courtroom ruling, Mr Kejriwal had approached the Delhi High Court to problem the trial courtroom’s determination to pay attention to the chargesheet towards him. He had stated the Enforcement Directorate didn’t have the sanction to prosecute him.
