An earthquake hit Lisbon, the capital of Portugal and setubal areas, with as estimated magnitude of 5.4 on Richter scale in the early hours of Monday according to the US Geophysical Institute (USGS).

The earthquake was recorded at 5:11 am with its epicenter 58 kilometres west of Sines, on the high seas, and at a depth of 21 kilometres, according to the IPMA.
The earthquake hit water 7.7 km south east capital of Lisbon and 74 km south east of Setubal.
The shock intense was felt mostly in the area of Lisbon and Setubal areas, according to the reports on social media, earthquake intense was felt as far as Porto, and even Spain and Morocco.

The IPMA later revised the earthquake’s magnitude to 5.3 on the Richter scale. There was no casualty of death reported anywhere, or damaged caused by earthquake however, we have information about a situation in Sesimbra in which possible cracks in buildings are being assessed,” he added.
The government reassured that there was no record of death, injury or material damage and appealed to the population to remain calm and follow the recommendations of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority.
