Congress chief Kanhaiya Kumar has sparked controversy together with his remarks focusing on Amruta Fadnavis, the spouse of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Criticising Mr Fadnavis’ current ‘Dharamyuddh’ remark, the Congress chief stated that the duty of upholding ‘dharma’ ought to relaxation with everybody, and it can’t be that whereas others work to guard ‘dharma’, Mr Fadnavis’ spouse is “making reels on Instagram”.
Speaking at a Nagpur rally, Mr Kumar stated, “It cannot be that the duty of saving faith is ours, whereas the Deputy Chief Minister’s spouse is making reels on Instagram. Everyone should save the faith collectively.” His feedback had been a response to Mr Fadnavis’ current enchantment for a “Dharamyuddh” to counter what he termed as “vote jihad.”
“Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that this can be a ‘Dharamyudh’. This is an effective factor. It is our Dharam to guard democracy and the Constitution for which I’m standing and giving a speech right now. Whichever chief talks about saving faith, you need to ask just one factor to that chief: will your son or daughter be a part of us on this struggle to avoid wasting faith?” Mr Kumar stated.
The BJP, fast to react, condemned Mr Kumar’s remarks. Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticised him on social media, claiming that the feedback had been an affront to Marathi ladies. “Amruta Fadnavis’ insult is an insult to each Marathi lady,” he wrote.
Last week, Mr Fadnavis, campaigning in Aurangabad forward of the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20, stated, “A vote Jihad has begun within the state now. We noticed that within the Lok Sabha elections. In Dhule, we had been forward by 1.90 lakh votes however the Malegaon (meeting section) had 1.94 lakh votes and we had been defeated by solely 4,000 votes. This vote Jihad was the rationale for our defeat there as a result of we weren’t collectively.”
The upcoming election will see Maharashtra’s ruling Mahayuti coalition and opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) struggle for 288 seats. Counting is scheduled for November 23.
