Tragedy Strikes: Mariah Carey Loses Mother and Sister on the Same Day

In an Interview, Mariah Carey said that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day over the weekend. She expressed her grief, saying, my heart is broken that I have lost my mother and sister this past weekend. 

The famous Grammy award winning artist has expressed that she was being fortunate that she got the opportunity to spent quality time with her mother before she passed, no additional information was shared on the cause of death and requested privacy on the same.

She explained, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, in her autobiography and talked about her complicated relationship with her mother, saying it had brought her “so much pain and confusion.” Carey, 55, explained that competition had made her relation tensed. She highlighted that professional competition is very common which comes along with success, but when it comes from your own mother and starts at a young age, it is truly painful.

Mariah Carey explained in her autobiography, about her deep love for her mother. In her book’s dedication, she wrote, “To Pat, my mother who, through it all, I do believe actually did the best she could. I will love you the best I always can,

In an interview with TV reporter, Mariah said that her mother’s criticism during her childhood had a big impact on her mindset. but, in spite of all this, she also give credit to her mother for introducing her to music.

She wrote in her book about her relation with her sister and  said that her relationship with her older sister Alison, was also complicated. She shared that she had distanced herself from both Alison and her brother Morgan because it felt “emotionally and physically safer” for her to have no contact with them. In her book, Mariah Carey accused that her sister drugged her, gave her a small amount of cocaine, which caused her severe burns.

Alison sued Mariah Carey for $1.2 million after the release of her autobiography claiming it caused her ” emotional distress” and calling it “ Revengeful.”

Mariah Carey is one of the most successful singers in the world. Her holiday hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is the best-selling Christmas song by a female artist ever. She gain more popularity after the release of this song.

She also holds the record for the most number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 by a solo artist, with 19 hits. With over 220 million records sold worldwide, she even served as a judge on the popular show American Idol.
