New Jersey Transit operator useless, 23 harm after practice hits tree

A practice operator is useless and 23 are injured after a New Jersey Transit practice hit a tree early Monday, officers say. 

A River LINE practice was touring southbound from Trenton when it struck a tree north of the Roebling Station at 6:04 a.m, NJ Transit stated in a press release.

There had been a complete of 42 prospects on board and 23 sustained largely minor, non-life-threatening accidents, authorities stated. The remaining 19 passengers had been accommodated by a bus.

Norris Young, a passenger on the practice, informed NBC Philadelphia the practice hit a “gigantic tree.”

“There was a tree on the monitor, I don’t know if it fell on the monitor or if it was simply laying on the monitor,” Young stated.

He recounted witnessing passengers injured by the accident and seeing not less than one particular person taken away on a stretcher. 

“It was like a film,” he stated. “I’m nonetheless shaken up. Somebody misplaced their life.”
