“Russia is mocking the United States again—this time over a shocking new scandal involving some big names in American media. Influencers like Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, and Benny Johnson are accused of secretly getting paid millions by Russian state media to push pro-Russian content.”
“Margarita Simonyan, the head of RT, Russia’s state-controlled media, had a smug response. She mocked the U.S. Department of Justice for taking so long to uncover the scheme. Simonyan said, ‘They finally woke up!’—showing no attempt to deny the accusations.”
According to the indictment, these right-wing influencers received over $10 million to spread pro-Russia propaganda, disguised to look like regular content. While the bloggers involved deny any knowledge of where the money came from, Simonyan seemed to revel in the chaos.
Other Russian propagandists are reacting too, with some pretending to be confused by how RT could get away with sending so much money to the U.S. Andrey Lugovoy, a Russian lawmaker once accused of murdering a defector in London, even commented on the scandal.

Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov was visibly worried about the indictment of his friend Dimitri Simes, who had frequently appeared on his shows to slam U.S. policies and support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Solovyov and others are now urging the Russian government to offer asylum to these media figures, fearing Tucker Carlson could be next on the list.
The Russian media also suggested this is all connected to Donald Trump. They pointed out that Simes, who was mentioned in the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, still has ties to Trump. The accusations against Simes, they say, are really an attack on ‘their’ Donald.
Pro-Russian voices in Moscow aren’t hiding their support for Trump. They believe Trump’s return to power could cause major chaos in the U.S. One state TV expert even said, ‘Trump is a direct path to civil war in the United States.’ They’re openly cheering for more instability in America.
So, while Russia continues to sow division, they’re betting on the chaos and looking to support figures in America who align with their goals. For Russia, the mission seems clear—keep destabilizing the U.S. from within. The question is, how far will they go?
