Trump pronounces Tom Homan as incoming border czar

WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump introduced late Sunday evening that Tom Homan, the previous appearing director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement who backed Trump’s controversial “zero tolerance” coverage, shall be his administration’s “border czar.”

“I’m happy to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, shall be becoming a member of the Trump Administration, accountable for our Nation’s Borders (‘The Border Czar’), together with, however not restricted to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security,” Trump stated in a publish to Truth Social.

“It’s going to be a well-targeted, deliberate operation performed, leaded by the boys of ICE. The women and men of ICE do that each day. They’re good at it,” Homan stated in a Sunday Fox News interview, including that deportations can be a “humane operation.”

Trump often espoused hardline, anti-migrant views on the marketing campaign path, at instances decrying migrants as “poisoning the blood of our nation,” “animals,” “gang members,” and evaluating them to the fictional cannibal Hannibal Lecter. 

“They’re tough individuals, in lots of circumstances from jails, prisons, from psychological establishments, insane asylums,” he stated at a March rally, talking of migrants who enter the nation unlawfully. “You know, insane asylums, that’s ‘Silence of the Lambs’ stuff.”
