Yogi Adityanath and Mallikarjun Kharge have traded barbs – on expenses of spreading communal hatred vs appeasement politics – as campaigning for subsequent week’s Maharashtra Assembly election enters the house stretch.
At a rally in Amravati Tuesday afternoon, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister served up a caustic reply to the Congress boss’ remark about “(political) leaders within the guise of sadhus”, an apparent jab at Yogi Adityanath.
Responding to that assault, Yogi referred to his rival’s childhood tragedy – his mom and members of his household died when their dwelling, in a village underneath within the former princely state of Hyderabad, was burned down – and claimed Mr Kharge had since buried his emotions “for the sake of (the Congress’) vote financial institution”.
“These days Khargeji is getting offended with me… Khargeji, do not get offended at me. I respect your age. If you wish to get offended… get offended on the Hyderabad Nizam. The Nizam’s ‘razakars‘ burnt your village, brutally killed Hindus, and burnt your revered mom, sister, and relations. The sharp jibes have been in reference to feedback by Yogi Adityanath in August.
